Development appeal – Castle Cement kiln in North Wales
- The appeal was a ‘must-win’, as a rejection would have meant the closure of the plant and loss of over 600 direct and indirect jobs.
- Jonathan Roberts oversaw the public affairs, media and community liaison service for Castle Cement, which was managed locally by Welsh company Stratamatrix.
- In March 2002 Castle Cement won its planning appeal with the Welsh Assembly Government, for a new £48m cement kiln in Flintshire.
- This was the first ever planning appeal considered by WAG.

Planning appeal – Custom House Crossrail station escalators *
- JRC was commissioned by Newham Council in August 2012 to provide technical evidence on a planning appeal case being bought against Newham by Crossrail Ltd. It required assembly of station usage analysis and passenger counts at the existing Custom House DLR station.
- JRC then evaluated the merits for ordinary passengers, passengers with disabilities and Excel exhibition visitors of providing escalators at this station as part of the Crossrail Project with a comprehensive business case.
